Simplr promotes the compensation of emissions by investing in green projects

Today, June 5, International Environment Day is celebrated, a key date to raise awareness in society about the importance of protecting natural spaces and contributing to the development of a planet that is more respectful of all species. However, the consumption habits implanted since the last century, dominated by an overexploitation of available resources, endanger the future of biodiversity.

In recent years, both terrestrial and marine environments have been affected by the daily activities of humans. The accumulation of goods, as well as the constant production of garbage make the situation unsustainable, reducing the number of specimens of numerous species. This fact poses a threat to Earth's biodiversity in the future, and there is already talk of an environmental emergency.

According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), current consumption models are positioned as the main cause of biodiversity loss and responsible for 80% of deforestation. To face this reality, the international body promotes, among other measures, a transformation of consumption habits, orienting them towards the circular economy.

In this way, it is time for mass consumption habits to change towards more sustainable consumption such as pay-per-use. Thus, Simplr, a pioneer company in Spain in consumption by subscription and implementation of the circular economy, promotes responsible and sustainable consumption by reducing excessive purchases and proposing a disruptive change in the consumption pattern, prioritizing use over acquisition, reusing instead to discard and, ultimately, subscribe instead of buying.

Under a strategy that is articulated around responsible consumption, the circular economy and respect for the environment, Simplr launches a process of compensation for CO2 emissions derived from its activity through three steps: calculation, monitoring and compensation.

First, Simplr calculates the amount of CO2 emissions generated by each of its products per month, based on the CO2 emitted during its manufacture. Once the calculation has been completed, it makes the CO2 compensation through investments in environmental reforestation projects in the Spanish territory. The company grants companies that have an active subscription the CO2 compensation certificate in Spanish projects, and a document accrediting the circularity that the company is using with the use of these products and their subsequent responsible management of waste at the end of its life. useful maximum. This makes it possible to quantify the results at the end of each exercise in order to measure their effectiveness and impact.

To articulate this emission compensation process, Simplr has ClimateTrade, the marketplace of the projects in which Simplr contributes to offset CO2, which is endorsed by MITECO.

In this way, the company continues to advance in its commitment to create a more sustainable society, and whose consumption habits do not generate a negative impact on the biodiversity of natural environments.
