Shock over the death of Manolo Miralles, founder of the Valencian group Al Tall

The musician Manolo Miralles, one of the founding members of the Al Tall group, passed away yesterday in Valencia. Born in the town of Xàtiva in 1952, the artist forged a career that made him one of the benchmarks of traditional Valencian music.

In 1975 he created, together with Vicent Torrent and Miquel Gil, the group Al Tall, which he carried out until his separation in 2013, a work focused on the recovery and dissemination of music with Valencian roots.

After learning the news, numerous representatives of the world of culture have expressed their pain. "Manolo Miralles, one of the key figures in the history of Valencian music, has been missing: a founding member of Al Tall and president of the Col lectiu Ovidi Montllor for 17 years," recalls the singer-songwriter Pau Alabajos on networks.

"A fundamental figure of our music. A tireless fighter for language and culture. Master and reference", adds, for his part, the artist Xavi Sarrià. The former president Ximo Puig has described losing Manolo Miralles as a "very strong blow", "with whom I have enjoyed so much dreaming of horizons of freedom. He made music in Valencian greater and his most beloved project: Al Tall"

They have also underlined the legacy left by Miralles entities such as Acció Cultural del País Valenciana and Escola Valenciana, among others.
