The National Police released on March 6 seven women of Colombian nationality forced to practice prostitution in an apartment in Sabadell (Barcelona), in a police operation against a criminal organization specialized in human trafficking in which they have been arrested. five people, two of whom have already entered prison.

As reported this Monday by the National Police, two entries and searches have been made in the police device in two Sabadell properties, in which, in addition to the release of the victims of this criminal network dedicated mainly to sexual exploitation, abundant documentary and computer material related to this criminal activity, such as accounting books and diaries.

The modus operandi of this organization, also dedicated to money laundering and drug trafficking, was always the same: they recruited their victims in Colombia under the false promise of a job in Spain as cooks, to whom they offered a salary of 33 euros a day for 12 hours of work, plus room and board. However, it was a lure for its capture and subsequent continued and systematic exploitation.

After evading border controls by entering Spain as tourists and once they arrived in Barcelona, ​​the women were taken by a gang member to a clandestine kitchen, where they were locked in a locked basement and were also forced to hand over their passport, mobile phone and money.

The women were exploited in an apartment located in Sabadell, which had security cameras and surveillance, to keep the women under control at all times, who were sexually exploited in it and had to be available twenty-four hours a day.

They were also forced to consume narcotic substances, to have sexual relations even when they were sick and, on occasions, they were beaten and assaulted by the clients themselves. In addition, the victims lived crowded together in a small and unsanitary room, sharing a bed.

The criminal organization acted as a call center, since its members were the ones who managed the telephones, offered the services to interested clients, assigned them to the girls and established the rates and methods of payment.

On March 6, agents of the National Police made entries and searched two Sabadell properties, in an operation in which five officials of the organization were arrested, seven women were released and thirteen other potential victims were identified.

Of the five detainees, accused of the crimes of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation, money laundering and crimes against public health in the form of drug trafficking, two have entered prison and the other three have been released. with charges. The operation was carried out by agents of Group IV of the Superior Headquarters of Barcelona and Group I of Alicante.
