Seven people have been slightly injured in the fire that broke out early this afternoon in an apartment in a block of flats located on Muntaner Street in Barcelona, according to municipal sources.
Five of the seven injured have been discharged in the same place, while the other two: a firefighter with minor second-degree burns and a neighbor who had mild poisoning due to smoke inhalation, have had to be transferred to a hospital. hospital.
The fire, which started after three in the afternoon and has already been extinguished, began on the second floor of a block of flats at number 128 Muntaner Street, at the confluence with Provença, causing a large cloud of smoke. , visible in the vicinity.
In addition, the accident has forced traffic to be cut off on this central street and several bus lines to be diverted, specifically, V13, 54, 63 and 68, as reported by TMB on social networks.
In the first instance, five crews were sent to the scene, but once it was verified that the fire was fully developed and that a person was asking for help from inside the affected home, six more vehicles were deployed to coordinate the extraction. of the person and extinguish the fire.
Albano Rabassa, chief guard of the Barcelona Firefighters, explained that there are two rooms that were very affected by the fire and the temperature and that therefore it has not yet been possible to determine what the cause of the fire was.
