Serious incidents yesterday forced four Mossos d'Esquadra crews and two from the Local Police to intervene to appease the spirits of some 500 fans who attended the match between Canet de Mar FS and Club Esportiu Barceloneta Futsal. The events unfolded when a visiting team coach climbed the stands to attack a fan.
The violent action began shortly after 8:00 p.m. after a tense match between Canet FS, recently promoted to the national category Second Division B. A spectator reacted to the attitude of the visiting coach throughout the game and insulted him, calling him a "son of a bitch" and then spit at him, according to the arbitration record.
The Barcelona coach reacted violently and tried to climb to the raised stand about three meters above the track, but in the first instance the local players who mediated in the conflict prevented him, as is also reflected in the minutes. However, he managed to climb and did not hesitate to take off his shirt, take a drum, throw it against the ground and try to attack several fans with the stick, kicking and punching them, as stated in the description made by the match referee .. An action that could have caused very serious situations in the presence of a large number of minors in the stands.
The violent performance of the visiting coach, in the opinion of members of the board of directors of Canet FS, could have caused a stampede of fans, about 500 who at that time filled the municipal pavilion. So they hope that the action will be conveniently sanctioned by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
On the other hand, sources from the board of directors of the modest local club at the moment do not consider filing any complaint against the visiting coach, but they demand that sports officials eradicate this type of action from the soccer fields.
As for the fan who provoked the coach, the local board has made the decision to permanently ban him from entering the Canet FS matches. They also assure that they will not hesitate to defend themselves if the case arises that they receive any sanction or complaint.
For its part, the Mossos d'Esquadra have opened proceedings waiting to receive complaints from several victims, including that of an elderly fan who suffered a blow to the head from which he bled, became dizzy and was taken to the Hospital from Calella.
The investigators have identified those who participated in the riot, both inside and outside the pavilion, where several habitual criminals from the coastal town joined the anger, where one of them, well known for his violence, wounded on the visiting coach's head.
