Sergi Bruguera (51) has announced his goodbye as Spanish Davis Cup captain, a position he held since 2017.
With Bruguera in command, Spain had won the title in 2019, in the first edition after the tournament reform. In 2022, without the injured Carlos Alcaraz and without Rafael Nadal (he had given up representing Spain in the latter year), the team had been knocked out by Croatia in the quarterfinals that were held in Malaga.
The Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) has not yet decided who will succeed Bruguera.
