Sant Jordi in Barcelona: better to forget about the car

The celebration of Sant Jordi's Day in Barcelona will have one of its epicenters in the large literary superblock, exclusively for pedestrians, in the heart of the city, a sector delimited by Diagonal and Gran Via avenues and by Balmes and Pau Claris streets. . One of the novelties this year is the total recovery of the Rambla space as the other nerve center of the festival.

Starting today, the Barcelona City Police will implement a traffic mechanism in the affected area, in which the circulation of vehicles is prohibited from ten o'clock tonight until 2 a.m. on the 24th.

During tomorrow, the roads that lead to the superblock may be affected depending on the crowds of the event. Similarly, the roads that lead to the Rambla may also be cut.

On the Llobregat road in Plaza Catalunya, traffic is restricted to one lane coinciding with the closure of the superblock. Likewise, tomorrow, the 23rd, this road will be isolated when the crowds of visitors so advise.

Due to the large number of book and rose stops, Barcelona City Council recommends traveling on foot or by public transport, preferably by metro and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat. Transports Metropolitanas de Barcelona (TMB) will reinforce the metro service with more security and service personnel.

The bus lines that are in affected areas (D50, H8, H10, V15, V17, 6, 7, 19, 22, 24, 33, 34, 52, 54, 115 and the blue and red routes of the Barcelona Bus Turístic ) will adapt their routes.

The metro service will be reinforced on lines 1, 2, 3 and 5.
