Saint-Gobain Cristalería presents an ERE that affects one hundred employees of L

The management of Saint-Gobain Cristalería has informed the company committee of its intention to start an ERE that will affect a hundred workers at its factories in L'Arboç (Tarragona) and Avilés, according to the inter-center committee and the CC unions. OO., UGT, CGT and CSI.

Specifically, of the layoffs proposed by the company, around 60 would be workers from the Catalan plant and around 40 from the Asturian plant. In addition, the company proposes a temporary employment regulation procedure (ERTE) for its application of 12 days in June.

According to the inter-center committee, the company's management "intends to reduce the structures of the work centers, taking advantage of the current situation in the automobile market and, in turn, reduce the working and social conditions of its workers."

The unions have lamented in a statement that the company "has been intentionally relocating the activity to precarious labor markets and that the workforce is an insignificant number or cost."

Two years ago, in the midst of a pandemic, Saint-Gobain already closed its Glass division in L'Arboç, dedicated to the manufacture of car windows. On that occasion, the company promised to relocate the 122 workers affected in the other plants of the group in Spain.
