Russia destroys three Ukrainian maritime drones launched against the Crimean bridge

The Russian Army tonight destroyed three maritime drones launched by Ukraine against the bridge linking the annexed Crimean peninsula and the Russian mainland, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

"On September 2, at 2:20 a.m. Moscow time (23:20 GMT on September 1), the third Ukrainian unmanned boat launched by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack on the bridge was destroyed in the Black Sea. Crimea," the military department said on Telegram.

According to Defense, the first attack took place around 11:15 p.m. Moscow time (20:15 GMT) followed by a second, at 2:10 p.m. (23:10 GMT on September 1).

After the last Ukrainian attack that hit the bridge and damaged one of its pillars, on July 17, Russia has set up up to seven floating barriers to protect it.

The attack, indirectly claimed by Ukraine, caused the death of a couple and significant damage to the road in one of the two directions of the automobile segment of the bridge, which runs parallel to the railway line.

In October 2022, a first attack took place, which caused significant damage to the roadway of the bridge after a truck bomb exploded on the infrastructure. That attack, in which five people were killed, was recently acknowledged by Ukraine by revealing details of how the explosives were planted in the vehicle.

Putin ordered on both occasions to reinforce the protection of the bridge, whose automobile section was inaugurated in 2018 and the railway section in 2019.
