Romania criticizes the "unacceptable violation" of its territory after finding Russian drones

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, described this Saturday as an "unacceptable violation" of the country's airspace the discovery of new fragments of drones such as those used by the Russian Army.

The president, who already stated last Wednesday that it would be "very serious" if the fragments found then were confirmed to be of Russian origin, said today that these new remains, located near the border with Ukraine, represent an "absolutely unacceptable violation of airspace." sovereign of Romania".

The remains located by the Romanian military correspond to another drone that crashed on Saturday on Romanian soil, according to local media reports.

Iohanis recalled that Romania is a NATO member state and that the appearance of these remains poses a real risk to the safety of citizens. However, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured in the European Parliament that: "We have no information indicating an intentional attack by Russia and we are awaiting the result of the ongoing investigation."

In any case, the president of Romania has informed Stolteberg that, for the second time in a few days, such fragments have been found on Romanian soil.

The Ministry of Defense reported that members of the Navy carried out a search mission today in the Plauru area, on the coast of the Black Sea and about 70 kilometers from the important Ukrainian port of Odessa.

Defense indicated that pieces of a drone similar to those used by the Russian Army were discovered.

In a statement, the Ministry condemned the Russian attacks against targets in the Ukrainian ports of the Danube, very close to Romanian soil, and assured that the Armed Forces are on alert and in contact with the allies.
