Ricardo Ten, a former swimmer who triumphs on the bicycle

The Valencian Ricardo Ten was proclaimed this Saturday at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome (France) double Paralympic cycling world champion on track, in the pursuit and omnium modalities, which are added to his scratch gold and the silver in the kilometer against the clock.

Ten, who for twenty-two years had a successful career as a Paralympic swimmer with more than one hundred titles as champion of Spain, thirteen European championships, seven world championships and three gold medals at the Paralympic Games, changed the pool for cycling in 2017 and his idyll stay on the pedals.

Now, at 47 years old and adding the four medals won in this Paralympic Cycling World Championship, he stands with eleven world champion titles between track and race. He knows very well what it is like to wear the rainbow jersey.

His last feat was achieved in pursuit, facing American Aaron Keith in the final, whom he had already beaten in the sprint in the scratch and who also won by a tight lead of only two tenths in this test.

Here is an example of self-improvement, like every athlete, especially the Paralympians, who used to win in the water and now does it on the bike, adding to a record that seems to never stop growing.
