Renfe clarifies that free passes can be purchased from August 24 after criticism from many users

This Monday it was announced that the application process for the Renfe free train pass would be opened, but the start of the term has been accompanied by criticism from many users who have seen that today they still could not acquire the passes.

Many users have pointed out the lack of information and the consequent confusion due to the dates announced by the Ministry of Transport itself. In the face of criticism, Renfe has had to clarify that what could begin to be carried out today was the registration on the company's website to request, at the end of August, the mandatory subscription.

Therefore, the first step to obtain the season ticket is to create an account on the Renfe website. That is the only action that users will be able to carry out at the moment to get their ticket, which will not be available until August 24 at the usual points of purchase: the Renfe Cercanías App, self-service machines and ticket offices. of the station.

Some users have expressed their outrage through social networks, since the guide on the website explained that, once the registration was done, there was an option in the application that allowed them to choose the free subscription, which they have not found.

The anger has focused especially on today's tweet launched by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, in which it was said that from this Monday you could "request" free tickets for "Cercanías, Rodalies and media distance from Renfe".

Little less than an hour later, after the responses of some of the users, the Ministry clarified that registration on the website should only be done as the first step of the process. And, finally, Renfe has published another tweet clearing up all doubts: it will not be until the 24th of this month when users can purchase their ticket.
