Reempresa, the program that facilitates the transfer of companies

Miquel López is an entrepreneur from Maresme who has created a holding company with companies from different sectors. Among those that he has already bought is Can Maresma, a four-generation family business dedicated to the food distribution of poultry, vegetables, pre-cooked and frozen foods. On the verge of retirement, the partners of Can Maresme decided to transfer the business and, to do so, sought relief through the Reempresa program.

López discovered that Can Maresma was transferred thanks also to this business program that in the central Maresme is led by the TecnoCampus together with the Mataró City Council. And through Reempresa he was able to contact them and acquire the company, whose clients include hotels, restaurants, soup kitchens, markets and retailers. López stayed with the 17 workers of the company, while the partners accompanied him in the transfer to be able to maintain the client portfolio.

This entrepreneur has his own business services company, to which he has joined other training, prevention, and advisory firms, a chain of stores and workshops. As he himself recounts, he also wanted to buy a food company, "something that has nothing to do with my sector." López explains that after a long experience as an entrepreneur, in which "I have seen it in all colors", he wanted to become an investor and create his own business holding.

López makes a very positive assessment of the Reempresa program. "It gave me a lot of reliability," he says. So much so that he has also recently acquired a workshop in Terrassa and is looking for a third company through this business service. He explains that the best thing about the program is the support it offers companies in this transfer process.

The Reempresa program is an initiative of the employers Cecot with the support of the Diputació de Barcelona that was created with the aim of promoting and structuring the transfer of companies as a means of growth of economic activity, thus avoiding the closure of economically viable businesses and the destruction of employment.

The TecnoCampus and the Mataró City Council have been awarded as one of the most active local Re-enterprise centers in the province of Barcelona, an award that has been repeated in the six previous editions of the program. Since its launch in 2012, the TecnoCampus Re-enterprise center has reached 115 cases of "successful re-enterprises" (assignments or transfers of businesses) that have generated an induced investment of €5,192,226 and have safeguarded 330 jobs.

To date, this service point has advised 354 businesses whose owners wanted to hand it over to an entrepreneur, 584 "reentrepreneurs" or people interested in acquiring a business have been assisted and 580 negotiation processes have been generated.

The program offers people who want to sell their business, free of charge, individual advice for the preparation of the Assignment Plan, as well as advice throughout the process of transferring the company: from the first meeting of presentation of the parties to the signing of the contract. sale, going through the negotiation and mediation phases to reach an agreement. People who have the project of "resuming" a company or business that is already in operation, are offered a portfolio of businesses in transmission and are helped to make the viability or "Re-enterprise" plan of a business that interests them .
