Rates rise: Is it a good time to buy a flat?

The furor over home sales, which has pushed transactions to record levels since 2008, could have its days numbered. The decision of the European Central Bank (ECB) to raise interest rates for the first time in 11 years will make it even more difficult to access home ownership by making financing more expensive. Operations in the mortgage market are closed at a forced march due to the fear that the era of cheap mortgages has come to an end.

But is it still possible to find good deals on the market? Should I opt for a fixed-rate mortgage? Is it better to buy now or wait? These are some of the issues addressed in the latest episode of the Pocket podcast, where the journalist Raquel Quelart talks with the economist and popularizer Iñaki Jiménez Largo; the president of the Association of Financial Users (Asufin), Patricia Suárez, and the executive director of Finteca, Silvia Escámez.

'Pocket' is a fortnightly podcast that offers you information and recommendations to manage your finances well. It can also be heard through platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts, among others.
