Randstad launches 1,000 offers throughout Spain to work in hospitality this summer

Randstad has launched this Monday 1,000 job offers in the hospitality sector to cover jobs throughout Spain in the summer campaign. The sector is facing a lack of labor after the pandemic, with a return in demand that has caught owners with half staffs and amid a flight of workers to other sectors with better working conditions.

Among the positions offered, the most in demand are those of waiters, floor waiters and cooks.

The human resources company highlights that it is "one of the largest job offers", with a hospitality industry that "is showing resilience and is positioned as one of the sectors with the fastest recovery, reaching levels similar to, and even higher than, those of 2019, before the pandemic", in which it was one of the hardest hit. In April, the last month with available data, the hotel industry led the contracting with 113,000 more affiliates.

"The end of restrictions and good weather are revitalizing the hospitality sector and, to meet demand, employment opportunities are emerging," it is explained in a note. By provinces, where more workers are sought are Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, Seville, Castellón, Málaga, Valencia, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.

The offers can be consulted on the Randstad portal, with a figure that will grow in the coming weeks as new vacancies come in.

Among the requirements that are requested, immediate availability, some experience in the sector and commitment to the position are repeated. On their side, workers seek a good salary and the possibility of conciliation. Work environment, job security and career development are also valued, according to Randstad Employer Brand Research.

“The covid crisis has caused many tourism workers to seek employment in other sectors, such as distribution, elderly care or construction; and also many candidates ask for conditions that we cannot assume", a businessman from the sector raised this week to La Vanguardia.
