Quart's drum teacher now says he had "consensual relationships" with four students

The drum teacher from Quart, who faces 48 years in prison for sexually abusing five students between 2009 and 2020, stated today, during the trial being held at the Girona Court, that the sexual relations were " "consensual" with four of the five students who reported him.

The fifth victim, who was only twelve years old when the alleged abuse began as the same witness explained in the courtroom this Tuesday, has denied any type of sexual relationship with him.

The defendant, who has only answered questions from his defense, exercised by the lawyer Carles Monguilod, has stated that he knew that when the events occurred the legislation established the minimum age of sexual consent as 13 years old and that it is now 16 years old.

The statement of the defendant, Jordi B., represents a turn in the case. The man, during the investigation phase, had denied any type of sexual relationship with the students who brought him to trial. "Then I thought about my family, my children and a few friends and having to testify I was ashamed to tell the truth," the drummer said during the trial.

The defendant has stated that since he has been a drum teacher he may have taught classes to between 300 and 400 students, between 8 and 60 years old; although the bulk of his students were teenagers, between 15 and 20 years old.

When asked by his lawyer, he stated that his relationship with the complainants was "one of friendship, affection and trust" and he went so far as to describe the relationship he had with all of them as "a brutal, fun colleague relationship."

The defendant has alleged that the relationships with four of the students who denounce him were "consensual." He has admitted to "touching, massaging and masturbating" students who were minors when the events began. "I never thought I was doing anything that was illegal," he said.

Only in the case of the witness who was of legal age when the events occurred, has he recognized fellatio that was "totally accepted."

During today's session, psychologists and forensic doctors who treated the young people have also testified. The forensic experts have explained that a common pattern of most of the victims is that they were going through some moment of vulnerability when the events occurred, whether due to parental separation or a rebellious adolescence.

They also highlighted the "emotional impact" that the alleged abuses have had on their lives and the consequences that have arisen from these events such as anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse or problems with concentration and studies or problems with romantic relationships. .

The prosecutor asks for 43 years in prison, the private prosecution, carried out by the lawyer Benet Salellas, 48 years, while the defense demands acquittal.
