Putin responds to UN Assembly with more Iranian drone strikes

Russian troops maintain their heavy attacks on several of Ukraine's main cities in response to the Ukrainian counter-offensive and this Thursday the Kyiv region has again heard the roar of anti-aircraft alarms for the fourth night in a row. Bombings that have also had their echo in Mikolaiv, in the south of the country. No casualties or injuries have been reported in these new attacks so far, as reported by the regional governor, Oleksi Kuleba, through his Telegram account.

This time, the attack of the Russian forces has been carried out with Iranian-made kamikaze drones, a methodology used for a few weeks with greater intensity. In the case of the Ukrainian capital, it was already the subject of intense missile bombardment last Monday, which for the first time in months forced the activation of anti-aircraft alarms in the Ukrainian capital.

The bombings on the city of Mikolaiv came this Thursday hours after the resolution of the UN General Assembly that called the annexation of the Ukrainian territory by the Russian capital "illegal" and that further isolates the country led by Vladimir Putin. The southern Ukrainian city is a shipbuilding hub that has been hit hard by Russian military offensives since they began on February 24.

"A five-story residential building has been attacked, the top two floors have been completely destroyed, the rest is under rubble. Rescue teams are working on the scene," the mayor of the city said in a social media post. Mikolayiv, Oleksandr Senkevich.

The attacks on some of the main cities in Ukraine have been repeated since an explosion on October 8, which caused a large fire, seriously damaged the important bridge over the Kerch Strait, which links Russia and Crimea. Putin acted immediately with military offensives and warned that if the attacks do not stop, the responses will be more severe.

Ukraine's President Zelensky told the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington that "The more help Ukraine receives now, the sooner we will end the Russian war." A conflict in which both sides have reported a large number of losses and which is causing a headache on the world political scene.

In the following days there have been new attacks, although of lesser intensity, in the central and western regions of the country, while the emergency services of Ukraine have maintained the alert over the entire country. In those registered last Monday in different parts of the Kyiv and Lviv region, among others, at least 19 people died and hundreds were injured, figures that have increased to 26 dead since the beginning of the week.
