Purple, much more than just a color

This past Saturday was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. A day where demonstrations, demands, lighting of candles, talks... along with an immense amount of varied activities are held.

One of the most widespread and "institutional" acts is to see how city councils position themselves next to women and light their headquarters with purple lights.

In this case, in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos, we can see what purple looks like in Rubí, in the Vallès Occidental region, to join the cause against violence against women.

In addition to turning on these lights in the town halls and/or monuments, some town councils also hold plenary sessions and give space so that the real problems of citizens, such as violence against women, are not just a few colors on a wall.

Colors that are more than just colors on these walls, but are a symbol of the days when the color lilac takes to the streets to claim, for example, a universal right as basic as the right to life.
