Puigdemont attacks ERC and accuses it of going against independence

In his capacity as leader of the Consell de la República, Carles Puigdemont attacked ERC, his former partner in the Government, again yesterday. The former president and MEP from Junts accused the Republicans of nothing less than "working, on some points, against independence."

In a telematic plenary session of the para-institutional entity that he directs from Belgium, Puigdemont made a "negative assessment" of the new ERC solo government after the departure of Junts, which he sees as "the confirmation of a renunciation of using the majority" of pro-independence of more than 50% of the votes in the 2021 elections.

“This is a Government that today works more for independence than before? No, rather he works less. What's more, at some points he seems to be working against him, ”he denounced.

In addition, the former president stressed that Pere Aragonès heads a monocolor Government configured by "a parliamentary partner" of the PSOE in Congress, so his "possibility of confrontation" with the State "is rather limited." In this sense, Puigdemont regretted that the Government is not "aligned" with the Consell de la República, which is committed to a "permanent confrontation" with a State that "will not agree" to hold a referendum in Catalonia.

The former president pointed out that, from his point of view, "a shared strategy is needed" with all the pro-independence actors, although he acknowledged that this is "practically impossible" right now. All in all, he said that the Consell de la República is working to create the "conditions" to make it possible and it will be the "fucking fly" that will continue to vindicate this unitary strategy before those who "would not want to hear" about it.

For this reason, said Puigdemont, representatives of the government body of the Consell de la República are holding “bilateral” meetings with other pro-independence organizations that are going in the same direction.
