PSG announces the signing of Renato Sanches

PSG announced this Thursday the signing until 2027 of midfielder Renato Sanches, who will meet again with coach Christophe Galtier in Paris. The Portuguese, who played for Lille since 2019, becomes the fourth signing of the Parisians after the additions of his compatriot Vitinha, the young French striker Hugo Ekitike and defender Nordi Mukiele.

The 'dogos' club also confirmed the player's departure, where he arrived three years ago after paying 20 million to Bayern Munich. Lille said in a statement that they were "happy (...) to have participated in the development and construction of his career" and wished him "the best for the rest of his professional career."

After exploiting the 2015-16 season at Benfica, his training club, and after winning Euro 2016 at just 18 years old with Portugal, Sanches was transferred to Bayern for more than 35 million euros, but the Lisbon native never managed to settle in the German set. Before being transferred definitively, the Munich team loaned him to Swansea in the 2017-18 academic year.

At Lille he relaunched his career and was crowned champion of France under Galtier's orders. Sanches is used to playing ahead of the defense or in the right-handed profile of the midfield. He is characterized by being a player with a long journey, a box to box, and is also endowed with a good vision of the game.

However, the Portuguese will have to be more consistent to earn a place at PSG. Injuries have slowed his career and he has never played more than 25 games in a Ligue 1 season. Sanches has made 32 appearances for the national team, with which he also won the Nations League in 2019.

"He is a player who has qualities that others do not have," Galtier praised before the official announcement. "He is very explosive, very forceful. He is a player who knows the French championship and has a very high international level. He will have to integrate since he played very little in preparation because he was waiting for his transfer," added the technical.
