Principle of agreement to approve the National Pact for Industry

The Government, the employers Foment and Pimec, the unions CC.OO. and UGT and other social agents have closed a pre-agreement to approve the National Pact for Industry 2022-2025.

The agreement provides for an investment of up to 3,000 million euros. At the moment, 2,800 million have been allocated but some European subsidies are still pending, according to ACN.

After ten months of work, the agents involved have agreed on a document, pending ratification by the corresponding bodies, which details actions with an associated budget and calendar "with the aim of reindustrialising Catalonia in a green, innovative and digital key", according to sources of the Conselleria de Empresa y Treball.

The goal is for the industry to have a weight of 25% of Catalonia's GDP by 2030, in line with the percentages of a decade ago. Now, the contribution of the industry in the Catalan economy stands at just under 20%.

According to a statement, the signing and presentation of the National Pact for Industry will take place at an event to be held in early September.
