Port Aventura announces the longest season in its history

Port Aventura World will start the next season (2023) earlier than ever, on February 17, to celebrate Carnival. Until now, the theme park opened the new course coinciding with the Easter holidays, in spring. The decision to extend the season comes after years of successful Halloween, autumn, and Christmas campaigns, which have allowed Port Aventura World to gain visitors beyond the most touristy months.

The park will only open on weekends in February and March 2023, to extend the hours with the arrival of spring, at Easter; next year the Easter holidays are at the beginning of April.

To celebrate Carnival there will be traveling shows, batucadas, floats and parades of comparsas, which will tour the park, as Port Aventura has just detailed.

In the park several of the areas will be decorated "in the purest carnival style, inspired by the celebrations of the most famous carnivals in the world (Rio de Janeiro and Venice)," explains Port Aventura in a statement.

All in all, next year the theme park, which opened its doors in 1995 between Vila-seca and Salou, will experience the longest season of its 27-year history: 276 days of activity. The commitment to deseasonalize, one of its historical objectives, will mean that the tourist resort will have less time than usual to prepare for the new course, only six weeks of total stoppage. Everything will have to adapt to the new schedule, including maintenance and improvement operations at the facilities.

“The 2023 season promises to be unforgettable for all lovers of Port Aventura World. Not only will we start the year sooner, but we will do it in a big way with the first edition of Carnival in our history. We hope it will be the starting signal for a unique year”, points out David García, general manager of the Port Aventura World business.

The theme park, which will fully enter the Christmas campaign in December, will close its doors on Sunday, January 8, 2023, after Epiphany, as has been the tradition for some years now. The success of the Christmas campaign, with more visitors each year, and especially that of Halloween, with hundreds of thousands of new customers, have been key to deciding to extend the season longer than ever.

The next course will also extend the opening days of the Ferrari Land park, which will extend its calendar for 264 days (3% more than in 2022), and Caribe Aquatic Park, its water park, open for more than 100 days (7 % more than in 2022).

Next year the resort will make visible its commitment to renewable energy with the largest self-consumption photovoltaic plant in a holiday resort in Spain. The project has involved an investment of 5 million euros and will cover a third of the resort's needs.

Port Aventura plans to open a new attraction at the end of the first half of 2023, which has been under construction for a few months, although very few details have been released so far. It is known that it will be an attraction charged with adrenaline and adventure and that it will be located in the Far West themed area.
