Podemos urges the PSOE to derail the housing law before addressing the budgets

Podemos wants to capture the turn to the left given by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in the last debate on the state of the nation and has demanded new steps, to unblock the legislation on Housing and repeal the gag law before sit down to negotiate the next general budgets.

The purple formation understands that with the last political course a new phase begins in the legislature, which is why it has urged Sánchez to be more "ambitious" to focus on the "plurinational and progressive majority that already exists in Congress" and " stop constantly reaching out to a PP that is not a state party and is not willing to face the challenges of our time" (...) "The PSOE is wrong to undertake this sterile effort that does nothing but confuse the electorate. It is not the way to go," warned its national spokesperson Isa Serra.

At a press conference, together with the Secretary for Institutional Action, María Teresa Pérez, Serra asked the Socialist Party to govern "with more force" and fulfill the commitments made with its coalition partners. And for this he has given the energy saving decree as an example, slipping that in the hours that remain to approve that decree "Podemos is working to unite that majority of investiture to which the PSOE should be directed."

After insisting on the refusal of his formation to increase military spending by 12,000 million euros, Serra has pointed out that the new budgets must strengthen public services; guarantee the purchasing power of the working classes, continue advancing in tax justice measures and deepen "the feminist path".

"You have to be brave," stressed the Podemos spokeswoman, in whose opinion there are still many structural changes pending, "that go beyond" the measures adopted as a result of the war in Ukraine, among which she has cited an ecological transition justice and the fight against precariousness and social inequality.

In this "new phase of the legislature and new political course, the general budgets are an opportunity to respond" not only to the social and economic impact of the Russian invasion "but to go further", he concluded.

Serra has also announced that the Council of Ministers will approve next Tuesday in the second round the Law on Sexual and Reproductive Health and the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy, which the Government already approved in the first round on March 3, with which the project will begin its parliamentary processing in the Congress of Deputies.

Serra has mentioned it as one of the two great advances of the feminist agenda that, in his opinion, the Government has pending, together with the Law for the Comprehensive Guarantee of Sexual Freedom, known as the "law of only yes is yes", which it will definitively approve. tomorrow the Congress of Deputies.

Thus, it will come into force despite "the attempts to delay the law by the Popular Party with an amendment approved in the Senate", and which, in his opinion, "have only served to leave women more neglected" during this summer , in which he stressed that "complicated moments" have been experienced.
