Podemos asks the judge to investigate the political-media operation against the party

Podemos has registered this Wednesday a letter in the National Court in which it requests the judge instructing the Kitchen case, Manuel García Castellón, the immediate incorporation into the cause of the recently published conversations between former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and the former Secretary General of the Party Popular, María Dolores de Cospedal, as well as between Villarejo and the journalist Antonio García Ferreras.

In its brief to which La Vanguardia has had access, the purple formation demands that the judge clarify why this material has not been incorporated into the summary despite the "obvious relevance to the object of the investigation" and explain if there are more recordings of It is equally important that they are in the possession of the police support unit for the Court.

Podemos maintains that this situation is very serious since Judge García Castellón has dismissed De Cospedal despite the existence of audios where the conspiracy of the former PP leader with Villarejo is heard.

"From the content of these audios, repeated and systematic practices of police bodies dependent on the Ministry of the Interior of 'manufacturing' false information against the political party I represent and its leaders can be deduced with total clarity, for subsequent disclosure in certain media outlets. Extremely serious facts and that undoubtedly have an evident connection with the present case," explains the formation.

In the letter, Podemos denounces that in several of the conversations that have been published, "Villarejo allegedly informed the then Minister of Defense of alleged investigations carried out by certain police officers, regardless of any judicial control, consisting of fabricating false reports and evidence with which "we seek the ruin" of the Podemos political party and several of its leaders".

That false information was later delivered "from those same police agencies to certain digital media, all with the undisguised objective of discrediting political rivals in a context of electoral contest." The formation describes as "revealing" Villarejo's conversation with the former head of the UDEF, José Luis Olivera, who affirms that "it is not very expensive to give Pablo Iglesias an account from 5 years ago and then have them explain", or with "Communication professionals such as Mauricio Casals or Antonio García Ferreras, who expressly acknowledge in said recordings that the information that was broadcast from their media outlet was false."
