Pere Aragonès denounces the "centralist and radial" vision of the Spanish Government

The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has lamented the "absolutely centralist and radial" vision in infrastructure planning by the Government. He said it this Thursday in Barcelona before starting the VI business event for the Mediterranean corridor, which is being held this Thursday at the International Convention Center.

Aragonès has said that it should be studied and analyzed whether the Spanish Government has diverted investments destined for the Mediterranean corridor to other infrastructures, although, as he added, it is already known "what has been the tone and the State's infrastructure policy".

Likewise, Aragonès has ensured that the Mediterranean corridor until now was "an economic and territorial imperative", but that now it is also so in the environmental aspect. "We are late, it should have been underway for a long time and every year that we do not have the full corridor is a year that we lose in greater competitiveness and a year that we lose in the fight against climate change," he added.

Before his arrival, with some delay, the Valencian president, Ximo Puig, had spoken, who also valued the centralist design of Spanish infrastructures. “The weight of radial Spain continues and produces a concentration in the center of the peninsula that ends up being very negative for the country, that is why the dynamics have to be changed, but it costs a lot. Centralism is never intelligent, and it is very difficult to change it”, added Puig.

The presence of Aragonès at the event supports the unified message of the Mediterranean territories in favor of a key infrastructure. Unlike Quim Torra, who did not attend the event that was held in the Catalan capital in 2018, Aragonès had confirmed his attendance at AVE, promoter of the call, transferring that he would attend "as one more to support civil society and the employers" Catalan, Valencian, Murcian and Andalusian.
