The former president of Valencia C.F. and former delegate of the Spanish soccer team, Pedro Cortés, has been sentenced to one year and ten months in prison for sexually abusing a minor from the club.
The ruling, advanced by Las Provincias and consulted by Europa Press, also establishes the prohibition of approaching less than 200 meters from the victim and probation for a period of years. Likewise, it is ordered to pay the costs and compensation of 6,000 euros.
The trial was held at the end of February in the Criminal Court number 3 of Valencia, behind closed doors. The Prosecutor's Office requested a sentence of two years in prison for a crime of sexual abuse of a person over 16 years of age and under 18 years of age, a qualification that the Public Ministry maintained at the hearing, as did the private prosecution.
On the contrary, the defense maintained that it is a crime that is classified by the law of only yes is yes, for which reason he expected an acquittal.
The investigation was opened in November 2020 in a Paterna court following a complaint by a player from the Valencia C.F. against Cortés for alleged sexual abuse. The family denounced the facts and the footballer then provided some WhatsApp messages to support his version.
According to the qualification document of the Prosecutor's Office, Cortés invited the young player, who was 16 years old at the time, to eat with his family in a restaurant in Valencia in November 2020. And during the meal he whispered in her ear: "I'm going to eat you whole."
Later, Cortés transferred the minor to the sports city of Paterna, where he resided and, "guided by his libidinous spirit, he placed his right hand on the minor's left thigh, beginning to massage him in a circular motion, moving his hand to the genital area. , coming to place it on his penis".
According to the Prosecutor's account, the minor removed Cortés's hand, who told him at that moment that "there is only one life and you have to enjoy it." The minor's parents reported the facts after being aware of them.
