Pablo Motos warns of a scam that has gone viral with his name and image: “Don't trust it”

Susanna Griso, Ana Rosa Quintana, Risto Mejide or María Patiño have become the target of some criminals to commit certain crimes. In this case, we are talking about the fraudulent use of your name and image for commercial purposes taking advantage of your fame. In this way, it is about selling potential customers products that are actually a scam.

On this occasion, the famous person in question was Pablo Motos. In fact, the presenter of El Hormiguero momentarily paralyzed the normal course of his program to send his audience an important warning: a fraud that has gone viral in his name and which should not be stung.

It all happened during the interview that Pablo Motos did this Tuesday with the actors of the new film All the Names of God, Inma Cuesta and Luis Tosar, in El Hormiguero. It was a scam. “They are using my name saying that they have arrested me for revealing a secret with which you can earn a lot of money,” the Antena 3 Television presenter began by explaining.

However, the Valencian warned: “It is a scam to get you to invest in bitcoins that a lot of people are falling into.” A fraud that he learned about when he was at a taxi rank and several drivers asked him if the trick “worked.”

According to the journalist, this scam, whose origin comes from England, is called “pig skinning because they take all your money little by little.” As? “First, you put an amount on a fake platform, where it seems like you are making quite a bit of money. They are asking you for more. When you want to get it out, you can't. And, then, he calls you a lawyer and tells you that he can help you, but that you have to pay him. Of course, this is also a lie,” he continued with the story.

“Then a police officer calls you and tells you that you have invested fraudulently, so you have to pay. And that way they take all your money,” Motos said. “The problem is that my photo is everywhere and a lot of people are falling,” he continued.

After finding out about this fraud, the Valencian called Google, Facebook and Instagram and "they told us that they can't do anything because they have a lot of advertising volume." However, “what they can do is collect the millions of money that comes in, which I understand will have a source. Someone with a first and last name, a company, sends the money to someone who collects it. The one who sends it is the scammer and Google, Facebook and Instagram should not be complicit in this. "They should report it."

This is not the first time that criminals have used Pablo Motos' image for something like this. In fact, the presenter also revealed that he contacted Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, whom he asked for help after suffering the same problem.

“He told me: 'Don't waste your time, they change headquarters very often and, when you go to catch them, they're not there,'” he said. “Indeed, I filed a complaint and, when the judge arrived, as a lot of time had passed, the links were no longer there. This time I have asked the Computer Crimes Unit for help, to see if we have a little more speed. In any case, I feel terrible. If you see this, don't trust advertising disguised as news,” he concluded, addressing his audience.
