Osasuna, Barça's rival in the Copa de la Reina round of 16

Barça will face Osasuna, from the Second Division, in the round of 16 of the Copa de la Reina, which will be drawn this Friday at noon at the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in Las Rozas. The tie, a single match, will be played on January 10, 11 or 12 in Pamplona.

Ranked fifth this season in the silver category, where they have won five games, drawn two and lost another two, Osasuna reached the round of 16 after overcoming three previous rounds. In the last tie played this Wednesday, they eliminated Sporting de Huelva from the First Division in a match in which they won 2 goals to 0. Before that, they had also got rid of Juan Grande on penalties and AEM de Lleida in the first round.

Osasuna has several well-known players at Barça, especially María González 'Ibra', trained in the lower categories of the Barça club and Sant Gabriel. The scorer has also gone through teams like Levante Las Planas and even had two brief experiences in Swedish football. This is her third season at the Navarrese club.

Since 2021 she has shared a dressing room with another Barcelonan such as Mar Torras, one of the fixtures at the Seagull directed by Jordi Ferrón. He also played for Eibar before joining the Pamplona team, which Alexia Blanco joined this summer, who had been a member of AEM for the last two seasons. A rocky team as the northern teams tend to be and that will require the help of the Navarrese cold in January from the Giráldez team.

In the rest of the pairings, the most attractive duel will be the one between Real Sociedad and Atlético de Madrid in Zubieta. Natalia Arroyo's men had no luck in the draw and could not avoid another rival from League F. Villarreal and Sevilla and Madrid CFF and Athletic Club will also face each other in the three duels between teams in the highest category. Real Madrid, meanwhile, will visit Fundación Albacete in the Second Division.

This will be the first round that includes the teams that finished the season in the top eight positions, which have been added to the eight survivors of the three previous rounds and that include teams from the First, Second and Fundación Canaria CDT, from the First Division National. The most modest team in the draw, which has eliminated Castellon, Deportivo and Eibar, has been paired with neighboring Granadilla, also from the island of Tenerife.
