Odriozola and Mariano, last to complete the exit operation

Casemiro's departure to Manchester United will not be his last this summer at Real Madrid. With a week to go until the market closes, Carlo Ancelotti still has two players left over from the squad: Álvaro Odriozola, who has made the preseason but does not convince the coach, and Mariano Diaz, who lives the same story of recent years. The Donostiarra side will be sold in the coming days. With the Catalan striker there are doubts about his future. He has one year left on his contract and Madrid wants to sell him now. The player has offers, but they are not convinced. In the white club they believe that right now the options of him leaving or rushing his contract are 50%.

Apart from these two cases, there is a wound that has not yet closed: Marco Asensio. The Mallorcan already played a few minutes of the last game in Vigo but Madrid is still not sure that Jorge Mendes is not going to show up at the last minute with an offer for his representative. However, the white club does not believe it likely and the feeling is that the Spaniard will fulfill the last year of his contract at the Bernabeu and in January he will be able to negotiate his future with whomever he pleases.

The player whose future outside the club seems clearer is Álvaro Odriozola. At 26 years old, the winger has never been able to settle in the club he arrived at in 2018 as one of the defenders with the most projection in Spanish football. Last season he was on loan at Fiorentina and before that at Bayern.

A week ago Odriozola was about to be transferred to Nottingham Forest, but the operation went wrong at the last moment. Now there is talk of Crystal Palace. In any case, what seems certain is that Ancelotti does not have him. For the right side he has Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez. And when neither of them was there, Rüdiger played a few minutes.

The most confusing situation, as always, is that of Mariano Diaz, who approaches the last of his contract years without much desire to leave, accommodated to not play except for crumbs (between the last three seasons he has added 1,161 minutes) and with a salary of four million who don't get paid anywhere else.

For Mariano this summer they have called to sound out the possibility of signing teams like Getafe, Rayo, Celta or Espanyol, but in the end nothing has materialized. Mariano's agent maintains that if there is a good offer, the striker would agree to leave, but Madrid are skeptical. They do not rule out that he ends up leaving but they would not be surprised if he stays for another year waiting for his few minutes.

With the departure of Casemiro, Madrid has already lost five important players this summer from the point of view of their salaries and history: the three who finished their contract (Marcelo, Bale and Isco), plus Luca Jovic who went to Fiorentina and Casemiro, who has gone to United. Of them, only the latter was the undisputed holder.

The exit operation has been completed with the sale or new assignment of several loans: Borja Mayoral sold to Getafe, Kubo transferred to Real Sociedad, Miguel Gutiérrez (sold) and Reinier (loaned) to Girona. Brahim remains on loan at AC Milan for another year.

Other academy players with a great future and who had made their debut in the first team have also left the club: Victor Chust and Antonio Blanco, to Cádiz; Marvin Park, at Las Palmas; Diego Altube (third goalkeeper) to Albacete; Mario Gila to Lazio and Sergio Santos to Mirandés.
