Obama adds an Emmy to his prestigious list of awards

President of the United States, Nobel Peace Prize, Grammy Award and now Emmy Award. The annual awards for excellence in the American television industry have recognized the work of Barack Obama in his Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks, produced by the producer he has with his wife, Michelle Obama.

The program, which consists of five parts, presents national parks from around the world in areas such as Chilean Patagonia, Indonesia or Kenya.

Obama's was the biggest name in a category full of celebrity nominees for the award, presented at the Creative Arts Emmys this past Saturday night, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, David Attenborough and Lupita Nyong'o.

Obama, who was president of the United States for two terms until 2017, has already won two Grammy Awards - for the audio versions of his books The Audacity of Hope and My Father's Dreams.

You only need an Oscar and a Tony to complete the so-called "EGOT," which just 17 people have achieved, including Whoopie Goldberg and Audrey Hepburn, according to tracker Entertainment Weekly.

Another president had already received an Emmy: Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, although his was an honorary award.

After leaving office in 2017, both Obama and his wife Michelle wrote best-selling memoirs and, in addition to their non-profit foundation, have created a production company, Higher Ground, which has signed a major deal with Netflix, estimated at tens of millions of dollars.

Obama also received the Nobel Peace Prize after his 2008 presidential victory.
