Notes of the movements at the beginning of the political course in the Valencian Community

The political course in the Valencian Community has begun entertaining with movements and strategies that draw attention and that point to a vertiginous end of the legislature in which the different political parties will try to break the technical tie between left and right that the majority of the polls.

The position of moderation and being the president "of all Valencians" -with that idea of expanding the voter base- is what has led the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, to enter into a tax reform debate, that his partners question and that he likes on the right. A senior Compromís official yesterday showed his disbelief and wondered how it is possible that, while Pedro Sánchez seeks to recover with a speech tilted to the left, Puig opts for a much more moderate speech.

The vice president of Compromís begins to take gallons. Yesterday, she outshone her group's trustee, Papi Robles, and emerged as the voice of the coalition. When they ask her about her possible candidacy for the Presidency of the Generalitat, she throws balls away from her, but she does not rule it out. It has not gone unnoticed that Puig accompanied her at the conference for a Third Botànic that she starred in this week in Alicante. But he does not hide and Tuesday was the Night of the Valencian Economy.

The controversial PSPV survey that left Unides Podem out has raised blisters in the purple. They say that from the socialist ranks they even apologized. In Podemos they begin to doubt whether the PSPV does not want the electorate to believe that the Botànic can be repeated without them. Both in UP and in Compromís they see it as complicated, because they believe that there is a percentage of voters that may not vote for them, but that it will be difficult for them to introduce the socialist ballot into the polls.

The parties to the left of the PSPV coincide in pointing out that the big problem in governing again may be abstention. So they do not understand that the socialists play to "corner Podem" instead of giving him "more prominence".

Linked to this, there are those who may think that the renewal of some institutions may be blocked by the tension between the partners. However, UP sources explain that they will not veto names and that at the next meeting of the three trustees on October 3, the path can begin to be paved for renewing such important institutions as the Sindicatura de Comptes, the Consell Jurídic Consultiu or the Valencian Council of Culture.

There are many doubts in the supervisory body since Compromís must decide whether to keep Vicent Cucarella in the institution and give up proposing a mayor or if he opts for another figure for the highest position in the Sindicatura. Cucarella's departure could lead the institution to a complicated situation given that the other two Síndics -Marcela Miró and Antoni Mira-Perceval- cannot repeat.

Discarded the addition of Yolanda Díaz for the regional ones, the possible confluence of the left for the spring of 2023 seems increasingly complicated. In Compromís they do detect a desire on the part of Esquerra Unida to try (with or without Podem) a pre-election agreement, but those who have been in it for longer remember that already in 2007 it was shown that the numbers do not add up. Not even in Initiative, always more open to adventures with purples, have they just seen it clearly.

In Compromís they believe that they have already passed their worst moment after the resignation of Oltra, and judging by the polls, they have shown to have a high electoral base. They are consolidated and convinced that, alone, they can achieve a good result.
