A tree has fallen due to the strong wind caused by the Ciarán storm in the courtyard of the Escola 30 Passos, in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of Barcelona, leaving nine people injured, two adults and seven minors who have been treated by the Emergency Service of the Generalitat (SEM).
The incident occurred on the corner of Berenguer Street in Palou, near the educational center. The log has split in half and has fallen inside the recreation area, next to the barracks.
As reported by the SEM on its Three other minors, one in less serious condition and two in mild condition, have also been transferred to the Sant Pau hospital and the other child, also in less serious condition than another child, less serious, has been evacuated to the Vall d'Hebron hospital.
The incident occurred while the children were leaving the classrooms and that is why there were moments of great tension, both due to the loud noise of the fall and the consequences of the tree falling.
Because of the wind storm, families had been asked to pick up their children in the classroom and not in the playground. The incident has damaged the fence that separates the school from the street, as well as a small wooden house where the students play.
Also this Thursday the Christmas lights fell on Gran Via in Barcelona. As a result of the storm Ciarán, the lighting has come off on the road and has cut off the circulation of vehicles in one lane.
