Ángel Simón resigns from presenting a candidacy to the plenary session of the Chamber

Agbar's chairman, Ángel Simón, has decided to forego standing in the elections to occupy one of the seats in the plenary session of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, which will be held from September 15 to 20. Actually the resignation is that of the Agbar company to appear in its corresponding sectoral heading.

The companies that are going to the elections have already configured their candidacy, although during the whole process they can resign, which is what Simón has done through Agbar. The tension that is taking place in the whole process does not help the configuration of the candidacies. The sources consulted assure that Simón felt uncomfortable with the dynamics that the campaign had acquired, highly politicized by the two candidacies. Agbar's president wants to avoid getting involved in this politicization and will represent him through Foment del Treball.

Until now there are two large lists: the one led by Josep Santacreu, who has the support of the Government, and the one promoted by the independence movements grouped around Eines de País, which is expected to be led by the current president, Mònica Roca, and the vice president, Toni Fito.

Foment, for its part, has declined to support any candidate and will wait until after the elections to decide. What it has agreed with Pimec is the distribution of the six committees that correspond to them as employers. It will be equally three and three.

Santacreu's candidacy is made up of 46 numbers that are put forward as an alternative to the pro-independence list. Among the professionals and companies competing on its list stand out Juan José Brugera (Colonial), Eloi Planes (Cepex, of the Fluidra group), Joan Ametller (Casa Ametller) and Emili Rousaud (Factorenergia). Santacreu's list does not present candidates for the 52 members of the plenum who are covered by suffrage, as Eines de País has done.
