Neuer says goodbye to the season after suffering a ski accident

Bayern Munich goalkeeper and Germany captain Manuel Neuer says goodbye to the season after breaking his leg in a skiing accident. The player himself has been the one who has reported this mishap through his social networks, in which he has shared the message along with a photograph from the hospital.

Neuer has explained that he underwent surgery this Friday for a fracture "in the lower part of the leg" and in the image you can see how he has his entire leg in a cast, in addition to a bandage on his left hand. "What can I say, the end of the year could definitely have gone better", laments the goalkeeper who has recounted how the accident happened: "While trying to clear my head practicing ski touring, I suffered a fracture in the lower part of the leg".

“Yesterday's operation went well. Many thanks to the doctors! However, it pains me to know that the current season has ended for me”, concludes Neuer in the message that already has thousands of interactions. Bayern has also ruled on the injury. Its president, Oliver Kahn, has sent a few words of support to the player: "The news of Manuel's injury has surprised us all. We will be by his side and accompany him on his way to return. He too will overcome this serious injury and He will return to the pitch as strong as before".

Hasan Salihamidžić, sports director, has also made himself available for Neuer's needs: "The fact that Manuel had an accident like this is terrible and, of course, all our thoughts are with him. I spoke to him yesterday and today "The operation has gone as well as possible. Manuel will receive all the support he needs. He has a strong personality and will return. I wish him the best, he can trust FC Bayern."

The German goalkeeper was enjoying a few days off after Germany's disappointing elimination from the World Cup in Qatar in the group stage. Neuer was due to return to Doha on January 6 to begin, together with Bayern, to prepare for the return to competition after the World Cup break.

This season the German club have already lost their first-choice goalkeeper for several games due to a shoulder injury in October. Sven Ulreich took his place under the sticks. The Bundesliga will resume on January 20, with Bayern defending the leadership it held, with a 4-point advantage, when the League was suspended for the World Cup. His first commitment of the year will be against Leipzig.
