Neto leaves Barça and signs for Bournemouth

The Brazilian goalkeeper Neto Munara has put an end to his stage as a Barcelona player to sign for English side Bournemouth, as confirmed by both clubs. Neto arrived at Barcelona three summers ago, but has always been in the shadow of Marc André ter Stegen. In this period he has played only 21 games.

The goalkeeper arrived from Valencia in exchange for 26 million euros, plus nine in variables. Neto has left with the letter of freedom and has signed for one season. Neto's arrival in Barcelona occurred simultaneously with the departure of Dutchman Jasper Cillessen to Valencia. A barter that served to make up the accounts of each other. Barcelona received 35 million euros, half of which it needed to enter to close that accounting course without losses.

In Barcelona, Neto, 33, has hardly had any chances. He played five games in his first year, 12 the second and 4 in the last season. Although the Catalan club will not enter anything for the substitute goal, it will save his record (about two million euros), which allows a minimal reduction in his wage bill.

Neto's departure will open the doors of substitution for Iñaki Peña, 23, who was trained in the Barcelona youth academy, where he arrived from Villarreal's youth football team.

He played from the youth to the reserve team, since he made his debut for Barça B in the 2018-19 season. To date, he has not played any official match with the first team and given the lack of opportunities last season he decided to accept a loan and play for Galatasaray, where he had a good season and faced the Catalan team in the Europa League.

Neto's departure is the ninth loss of Xavi Hernández's team after those of Philippe Coutinho (Aston Villa), Francisco Trincao (Sporting CP), Riqui Puig (Los Angeles Galaxy), Óscar Mingueza (Celta), Adama Traoré (Wolverhampton), Luuk de Jong (PSV), Dani Alves (Pumas) and Clément Lenglet (Tottenham).
