Multiple fall and run over Bagnaia in a terrifying exit in Montmeló

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has witnessed one of the most terrifying images experienced in the MotoGP World Championship: the leader and champion Pecco Bagnaia suffered a severe fall and was run over, which could have cost him dearly. A subsequent medical examination at the General Hospital of Catalonia ruled out that he had suffered fractures and serious injuries.

The Italian came out by ears in the third corner of the Montmeló race and once on the ground the KTM of Brad Binder ran over him, who was unable to avoid it.

The Turin pilot was evacuated by ambulance, conscious, to the General Hospital of Catalonia. The race was stopped with a red flag due to the multiple crash that preceded, in turn 1, the Bagnaia accident. Up to five pilots were involved: Bastianini, Zarco, Àlex Márquez, Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio.

The Montmeló race began with a brilliant start by Bagnaia from pole position. Aleix Espargaró was left behind and the Italian took off alone. But in turn 1 chaos broke out: Bastianini swept past Zarco under braking, and the Frenchman rebounded and took Di Giannantonio, Bezzecchi and Àlex Márquez ahead.

Two curves later, when Bagnaia, alone, traced the curvone, he was spit on his Ducati. In the fall, he was lying on the asphalt and Binder's KTM ran over him, at the height of the legs. A serious accident.

A red flag was decreed and medical assistance came, who took Bagnaia by ambulance, to treat him at the Circuit Medical Center, before being transferred to the General Hospital of Catalonia, in Sant Cugat del Vallès. At the hospital, according to Ducati, it was ruled out that he had suffered leg fractures. Binder's motorcycle ran over him at the level of the tibia and fibula.

Enea Bastianini, who was sanctioned with a 'long lap' penalty, no longer took the second start when he was transferred to hospital. According to Ducati, Enea suffered two fractures, in the left ankle and in a finger.
