Moto GP: schedule and where to watch the MotoGP Catalan GP race

This Sunday comes the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia. A race that will not feature the Spaniard Marc Márquez, after having had to withdraw to undergo a new operation on his shoulder, but in which Aleix Espargaró can shine.

It will be the ninth race of the MotoGP World Championship and the Italian Fabio Quartararo is the one who leads the standings with 122 points, 8 more than Aleix Espargaró. The Aprilia rider took pole position at Montmeló, including an outright track record, heralding what could be a great weekend for the rider from Granollers. Quartararo, current world champion, will start in third position.

In the last Italian Grand Prix, victory went to Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati), who this time will start from second position. Behind were Quartararo and Aleix Espargaró. All of them will fight to win the race in one of the most legendary circuits in the world. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya witnessed its first race in 1992 and since then it has never moved from the calendar. A total of 90 races have been held there.

Retired Valentino Rossi is Montmeló's most successful rider, with six wins in MotoGP, followed by Jorge Lorenzo, with five wins in this category. Marc and Alex Márquez, Dani Pedrosa and Alex Crivillé are other Spaniards who have won the Catalan GP the most times. Something that Aleix Esparagaró has never achieved until now: "A victory at home would be brutal", confessed the man from Granollers in the previous one.

There will also be excitement in the other categories. In Moto2 Celestino Vietti and Ai Ogura are leading one of the most attractive battles in the world championship, tied for the highest with 109 points. In Moto3, the Spaniard Sergio García is the boss, especially after winning at Mugello and adding 137 points.

The MotoGP race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will start at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday, June 5. A race that can be seen, as always, on DAZN, in addition, La Vanguardia will offer the minute by minute highlights of the competition. Before, it will be the turn for the other categories. Moto3 will start the engines with Sergio García at 11 in the morning, while Moto2 will start at 12:20.
