Girona added its first three points in the season of its return to the First Division. After losing at Mestalla, the Girona team closed the second day beating Getafe with goals from Stuani, Taty Castellanos and Domingo Duarte's own goal. Enes Ünal reduced distances for the people of Madrid. A result that did justice to what was seen on the pitch as Míchel's men were deserving of victory at all times and had absolute control of the pace of the game.
During the first half, Stuani, who on this occasion started sharing the attack with Taty Castellanos, had the clearest lead for Girona, finishing off a cross from Yan Couto that David Soria kicked out. And minutes later, the same Uruguayan soccer player, with the collaboration of Djené, who deflected the trajectory of the ball, managed to open the scoring for the first time, making the growth spurt by the visiting goalkeeper impossible. Before, Riquelme and Aleix Garciaya had tried it with several long shots.
Getafe, on the other hand, only reached the goal once during the first half and was about to score after Yangel Herrera sent a ball that he was trying to deflect off the crossbar.
As soon as the second half started, Girona scored again thanks to an own goal by Duarte and, almost on the next play, they would still have been able to extend their advantage if the referee, Muñiz Ruiz, had not backed down due to a penalty that he had initially whistled at the request of the VAR. The video arbitration acted again, but the other way around, on the next play, after a counterattack goal by Enes Ünal was considered good when there was a previous foul on Aleix Garcia. With no time to concede the blow, Getafe also saw how Castellanos made his debut as a scorer masterfully dribbling a ball over the goalkeeper's exit. Already in the last stages and with the people of Girona convinced of victory, Ünal scored the goal of honor for the visitors.
