Mireia Corachán presents her first work in Valencian in Valencia, "Ciutat Melancolia"

The writer and journalist Mireia Corachán (Valencia, 1980) presents this coming Saturday, September 9, at 12 noon at the El Imperio bookstore, her fourth work Ciutat Melancolia, the first in Valencian. The act will have the participation of the poet Eduard Ramírez and will consist, in addition to the presentation itself, of a recital with musical accompaniment.

This anthology of short stories, published by the Welsh label of the Sargantana publishing group, is a compilation of pieces that, according to the author, "define a lifetime and that cultural and vital baggage that we all carry on our backs, like a backpack of memories and experiences."

According to Corachán, this book is the most representative and autobiographical that he has ever written, since it collects stories written during more than 20 years of life experiences. In addition, the fact of having written it in Valencian "makes him feel it as something more personal and maternal". This anthology collects disparate stories connected by a melancholic halo that characterizes Corachán's prose and many of them are set in the city of Valencia.

Mireia Corachán has been dedicated to journalism for 25 years. In 2022 she decided to publish her first book of stories, Neon Lights and, months later, her first novel, El Molino, a costumbrista family saga set in Utiel. A year later, she released her second novel, Virginia Woolf's The Typist, her most ambitious work to date.
