Merino does not rule out a "restrictive" budget without subtracting resources from public services

The Minister of Finance, Ruth Merino, has assured that the Budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana for 2024 will not cut fundamental services, such as Health, Education or Dependency, and has advanced that each item will be executed "more efficiently" than until now. Merino has said that if cuts have to be made it will be "in superfluous spending, duplicity, political spending and dispensable things, which do not affect the well-being of citizens."

In the press conference after the plenary session of the Consell, the spokesperson for the Valencian Government explained that the resources "are what they are" and that the 2024 Budgets will be "rigorous" so they will have to be "prioritized."

Asked if the accounts the new Consell is working on will match the latest budget of the Botànic government, Merino preferred not to talk about figures, but has assured that they will improve it in execution and efficiency. She has specified that the accounts are in the final stretch, and that they will be presented "in the regulatory time", although she has not specified the day, since they are still working on them.
