Meganube over the Sella River

I captured these images for La Vanguardia Readers' Photos of this giant cloud, which was dumping a curtain of rain in the background.

It was in the Sella river, which when it reaches the sea becomes an estuary, in the council of Ribadesella, in Asturias. Ribadesella borders to the north with the Cantabrian Sea, to the east with Llanes, to the south with Cangas de Onís and Parres and to the west with Caravia. In August the famous "descent" of the Sella River is celebrated.

In one image we see the cumulonimbus near the sea, while in the second photo it is reflected in the estuary with the curtain of rain.

The cumulonimbus clouds are spectacular. They are of great vertical development, internally formed by a column of warm and humid air that rises in the form of a rotating spiral.

Its base is usually less than 2 km high while the summit can reach 15 to 20 km high.
