Mazón insists: "I want to search with the opposition more for what unites us than what separates us"

The president of the Generalitat, the popular Carlos Mazón, trusts that the PSPV-PSOE will attend the proposed meeting next Wednesday in defense of the main issues of the Valencian Community, and that it will do so "at the highest level" and "with a good will" to reach agreements.

In statements to journalists before opening the 2023 Municipalism Forum organized by the newspaper Información, Mazón stated that the Valencian socialists have not yet confirmed who will attend the meeting and added that he wants "it to be at the highest level" although, above all, everything, that whoever goes does so "with good will" and "broad-mindedness."

He recalled that during the last term, when he led the opposition to the Botànic Government with the PPCV, he proposed to the then head of the Consell, the socialist Ximo Puig, to make joint amendments to the General State Budgets (PPGE) for the benefit of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón, despite which "they didn't pay any attention to me."

On the contrary, he has stated that he is willing to have a common position with all the parties in Les Corts Valencianes to, for example, try to correct the PPGE in the event that they do not reflect the territorial, population, social and infrastructure weight that the Valencian territory needs.

"I would not understand, really, and I think it would be a disservice if there are parties that are willing to agree with Catalan separatism and who are not willing to agree on the strength that the Valencian Community needs" to obtain financing, infrastructure and other fundamental issues. for the future, such as the "unprecedented" fact that Alicante is again, for the third year in a row, the 52nd province of the 52 in Spain in state investments per capita.

"I throw down the gauntlet of spending more hours on what can unite us than on what can separate us," stressed Mazón, who has warned that this "is the message that has to be sent to the citizens," so If the round you proposed this week does not go well, you will try again in the future one or more times.

For the Popular Party, the national political news surrounding the investiture and the amnesty has generated "great tension and, unfortunately, polarization" but he added that above that "abyss" and in "how we see the Constitution" from the different political parties, there are great common challenges for Valencians.

Among them, improving regional financing and health, educational and social services through General Budgets that are "decent", as well as, among other issues, the constitution of a regional Water Table to "be stronger" in the demand for flows from the Tagus.
