The president of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, is not willing that the presence of Vox in his government team prevent him from maintaining the active policies that he had been developing in favor of women, to achieve effective equality, and after the confrontation With his vice president, Juan García Gallardo, from Vox, for a plan in favor of maternity, which he presented as a plan to avoid abortions, the Castilian and Leonese president has decided to act on his own, whether Vox likes it or not. does.

Thus, this morning, Mañueco has announced that the Board will encourage companies that promote women professionally, because from his government “we want to contribute to the advancement of women’s employment” in all professional fields.

For this, the Board will allocate, in principle, half a million euros to a program “to break glass ceilings”. The program includes an incentive of 2,000 euros for the promotion or change of category of women to positions with more responsibility, qualification and salary, as well as their transition from part-time to full-time.

This support, according to the program announced this Tuesday by the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, will rise to 2,800 euros if it is about occupations where women are underrepresented. The improvement must take place between January 1 and October 31 of this year, the date until which the incentive may be requested, with all the documentation that proves that the salary and category promotion of women has been made.

According to Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, this is another example of the Board’s collaboration with companies in favor of equality, such as the ‘Companies committed to equality’ Program; the IOEmpresas Program, which last year helped 234 companies to develop equality plans; the Castilla y León Employment and Women Program, which benefited 311 women in 2022; or the STEM TALENT GIRL to close the gap in science and technology studies, which last year operated in more than 200 educational centers in Castilla y León.

During his visit to the Michelin company, a company that is characterized by its commitment to economic and social development and the promotion of equality in Castilla y León, Fernández Mañueco stressed that there is currently the largest number of women working in the Community of all history: more than 469,000. There are 11,300 women in management positions in companies in Castilla y León, 2,000 more than five years ago. A significant increase, of 21.5%, which has three clear factors, according to Mañueco: The worth and talent of the women themselves; companies’ commitment to equality; and the work of associations and public authorities.

Vox maintains that “gender quotas” and positive discrimination in favor of women do not benefit women and are, however, detrimental to half of society, which are men. For Santiago Abascal’s party, there is no gender gap and women are not discriminated against both in salary and professionally for the fact of being women, but for the fact of being mothers, and for this reason maternity benefits must be implemented, but not for the benefit of women.
