Matt Fitzpatrick wins the US Open

The British Matthew Fitzpatrick conquered the United States Open this Sunday, the first major of his career, finishing with an accumulated 6 shots under par, one less than the Americans Will Zalatoris and Scottie Scheffler.

Fitzpatrick, 27 years old and number 28 in the world ranking, managed to maintain the advantage of a stroke on the last hole, when Zalatoris brushed the birdie by millimeters that would force a playoff at The Country Club in Brooklyn (Massachusetts).

Jon Rahm, champion in 2021, who reached the last day just one stroke behind the leaders, had a bad day and finished his round in 74 strokes, 4 over par, for an accumulated one over par that left him in the twelfth position.
