Mataró will host the 'UniDiversity Campus' for young people with intellectual disabilities

Mataró hosts from this Friday, September 1, the first edition of the 'UniDiversity Summer Camps', an initiative organized by Fundación Maresme with the support of Fundación ONCE that will allow young people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy a unique camp.

Under the title 'i-Talent: Summer Camp', the camp will take place from September 1 to 10 and can be attended by 30 people with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 18 and 30. Together with the Maresme Foundation, which leads the project, the Pompeu Fabra University also participates.

It is expected that it will have an institutional act on Friday, September 1 at 12:00 at the Tecnocampus UPF (Av. Ernest Lluch, 32, 08302 Mataró). On behalf of Fundación ONCE, Silvia Duarte, head of Programs with Universities and Promotion of Young Talent, will attend.

Co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF), the initiative aims to provide a space for coexistence and training for young people with intellectual disabilities who, according to various studies, participate to a lesser extent than their peers in social and recreational activities.

In this way, the campus is conceived as a playful space for coexistence and training and, therefore, there will be activities focused on providing participants with the necessary skills and competencies to improve their autonomy and increase their opportunities for social and labor inclusion. Among other activities, attendees will be able to participate in workshops on organizing events, communication, cooking and health, a digital art workshop, and video games. They will also have the opportunity to attend yoga classes and learn techniques for channeling emotions.
