Mat Holding invoices 364 million, 9% more, and plans to make 4 acquisitions this year

Mat Holding has closed the 2022 financial year with sales of 364 million euros, 9% more than the previous year. The company chaired by Pau Relat has managed to expand despite the unfavorable situation thanks to its water division, which is dedicated to irrigating farms.

"Despite the drought, we are in a moment of full expansion because the business has a solid position in the global market. We operate in 140 countries and 65% of our turnover comes from abroad, from countries like India, Mexico and the United States. United States, where we have our focus", comments the president of the family business, who does not foresee any shareholder change 85 years after its birth.

The company is profitable and in 2022 it has registered a gross profit (ebtida) of 15% on sales. It employs around a thousand people around the world and this year it plans to hire at least 50 more workers, says Relat, who is also the president of the Fira de Barcelona.

"We are going to grow organically because the world population is growing and demand is on the rise both in the agricultural irrigation sector and in the production of treatments for plant products," explains Relat.

In parallel, the company also plans to allocate "tens of millions of euros" this year to the acquisition of 4 competing companies specializing in crop protection and water filtration. "We are a global company and the acquisitions will take place in Spain and abroad. In addition, we also plan to open a factory in India specializing in valves for agricultural irrigation", explains the president of the company, which has 6 production plants: 3 in Spain, 2 in Israel and one in the United States.
