Masifill Patrimony, fincas for the middle class

In the Barcelona real estate world, Masifill Patrimonia is one of the firms with the greatest historical roots among the city's middle classes. The company was founded in 1932 in the central Fontanella street and, over 90 years, has grown in the management of farms and the sale of homes.

“My grandfather, Josep Mas, started the business under the motto that it is always better to have ten “peseta” customers than one “ten peseta” customer. It sums up our risk diversification strategy well and that has led us to connect with the middle class”, comments the CEO Aureli Mas, who embodies the fourth generation at the helm of the company.

The activity, he comments, is limited to the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area. “Our specialty is property management services, especially the management of neighborhood communities and rental management. We provide services to 15,000 owners. The activity is mainly limited to housing 85% and the rest are industrial warehouses, parking lots and commercial premises”, indicates the owner. In addition, Masifill has a division specializing in the purchase and sale of real estate – it closes around 30 transactions a year – and another division in which it provides home, community and rental non-payment insurance agency services.

Adding up all this activity, the company entered 2.3 million euros in 2021 and, this year, expects to reach 2.5 million in turnover, recovering pre-pandemic levels. “The covid impacted the business but we knew how to resist the blow. We even hired more staff because we needed to manage the casuistry and non-payments that arose as a result of the crisis," says Mas, who champions the company's resistance in times of crisis. In fact, the manager recalls that after the bursting of the real estate bubble, Masifill had the capacity to acquire eight small competing companies that were going through a bad time.

“Before that crisis, the company employed 12 people, now we are about 50 and we have three offices, one on Fontanella Street, one on Via Augusta and another on Bellaterra”, celebrates the owner, who delegates the management of the business to his cousin Joan Raldiris.

Since last year, Mas has combined leadership of the business with his other great passions, Barça and futsal. “I wanted to improve the club's situation and last year, I made myself available to Joan Laporta, who chose me as a member of the board to lead the futsal section. It is a very sweet moment for me. We have won four titles this year”, he celebrates.
