Mas maintains the Government's economic advisory council appointed by the previous Minister

The recently appointed Minister of Economy, Natàlia Mas, has decided to maintain the Advisory Council on Economic Policy of Catalonia (CAPEC) and its composition. The body, chaired by Professor Guillem López Casasnovas, was created by the former Minister Jaume Giró and started up last July.

Council sources have explained that the councilor has kept all the members. At the same time, they have agreed to continue with the new ERC team that runs the Ministry after the departure of Junts from the Government. The first meeting will be held next Monday afternoon. It will be the second held by the council after its creation this summer.

CAPEC is a collegiate body, attached to the Department of Economics, and made up of twelve renowned experts in different economic areas. In addition to López Casasnovas, Núria Bosch, Antoni Duran-Sindreu, Jan Eeckhout participate; Àngels Fitó, Jordi Galí, Teresa Garcia-Milà, Gerard Padró, Mar Reguant, Genís Roca, Anna Schlegel and Jaume Ventura.

The members of CAPEC hold bilateral and plenary meetings on a quarterly basis to address different current issues, from inflation, taxation, the financing model or how to make the Generalitat's budgets sustainable, among other matters, explained the Government when it set up the body .

In their first meeting, the members of the advisory council, who will not receive any remuneration for their functions, analyzed the general situation of the European and Catalan economy in the context of the Generalitat, as well as the budgets of the Generalitat, proposing present and future income.
