Maroto announces that the Perte automotive aid for the entire sector is 880 million

Industry Minister Reyes Maroto announced this morning from Vigo that the Automotive Department will have a global investment for all companies of 880 million euros. "The PERTE VEC evaluation commission is meeting. The proposal that this commission has approved reaches 880 million," she announced. In statements to journalists, the minister added that it is "a unique investment: such an amount had never been invested in the sector in Spain."

What is not known is how that money will be distributed among the different companies. Some sources pointed out that the public aid needs that Volkswagen requires to carry out its project exceed 700 million. The Sagunt battery factory project is around 3 billion.

In recent days, Volkswagen has left the investment in the aforementioned plant in the air due to doubts about whether the public aid contemplated in the Perte would be sufficient.

The 880 million announced today by Maroto represent almost 30% of the preliminary allocation made by the ministry a week ago. In the coming months, Industry will open a new Perte to dispose of the more than 2,000 million that have remained unallocated.
