Marc Soler arrives out of control after suffering vomiting and stomach problems

There were more than 100 kilometers to go before the arrival of Foix and Marc Soler had already been riding for a good distance, hanging off the hook, alone. First among the cars, then without the wake of the cars of the teams that follow the peloton. The Catalan from the UAE even called medical assistance to explain his discomfort to the Tour doctor. Shortly after, he was already a race queue and only the broom van accompanied him.

The panorama was discouraging when the first two ports of the Pyrenees still had to be climbed, the Port de Lers and the Mur de Péguère, both first category. Even France TV revealed that the runner vomited on the bike. Little was he going to be able to help Tadej Pogacar in that state, with a bad body and stomach problems. Soler's goodbye left the Slovenian with just four teammates to try to assault Vingegaard's leadership.

The technical tie between Jumbo, the leader's team, and Pogacar's UAE did not last long. He fought and pedaled against misfortune but lost three minutes and did not improve. From the team they encouraged him to continue, to endure. And he did that. Resist until goal.

The cyclist from Vilanova had to be one of Pogacar's supporters in the three stages of the Pyrenees but the rest day did not sit well with him. Nothing to do with last Saturday when he was fourth in Mende, running freely.

Soler, 28, signed this year for the UAE as a luxury domestique from Movistar and was running his fifth Tour. Although in 2015 he had won the Tour del Porvenir, his experiences in the French round are not good. Last year he had to leave on the second day after in the first stage (the Tour started from Brest) he fractured the radius and ulna of his left arm and came last, more than 24 minutes away. This year he had to get off the bike in stage 16 after finishing out of control.
